Our Commitment to Safety & Quality

A Message to Consumers from OCOOPA

In connection with this recall, OCOOPA conducted a systematic review of available customer feedback, product information, and related records in the context of long-term market sales and broad real-world use, and has worked closely with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The trust consumers place in our products carries an important responsibility. The more consumers choose our products, the more carefully and responsibly we must treat every safety-related report. We are committed to reviewing such feedback carefully and taking appropriate action.

Based on the review conducted in connection with this recall, the recall applies to certain OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers identified in the official recall notice that meet the applicable model, sales-period, and batch criteria, including certain units from earlier models such as H01 and 118S, as well as certain batches from several widely sold models. This recall does not include all OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers. OCOOPA no longer sells certain earlier models through its official channels and has continued to advance safety design improvements in subsequent product development and product updates. Consumers should review the official recall notice to determine whether their product is included.

To every customer affected by this recall: you placed an OCOOPA warmer in your hands—and your trust in us. We do not take either lightly.

Product safety is a core priority for OCOOPA. This review has further accelerated our efforts to implement more comprehensive and rigorous safety improvements. OCOOPA has established a Product Safety Committee and will continue to strengthen product design, testing, and review procedures, with product safety as a foremost principle of product development.

We want to share the product design improvements we have developed, along with practical safety guidance to help consumers understand important safety features to look for when choosing and using rechargeable hand warmers.

How We’re Improving Product Safety Design
Warnings and instructions matter, but product safety should go beyond words. Thoughtful product design can also help reduce potential risks associated with everyday use. That thinking is behind OCOOPA’s latest safety upgrades.

  1. Reducing the Risks of Burns from Prolonged Heat Exposure
Upgrade: Smart Automatic Heat ReductionAs with heat-producing products generally, prolonged skin contact with a hand warmer at a higher heat setting may increase the risk of low-temperature burns. To help reduce this risk, applicable models are designed so that Level 3 automatically steps down to Level 1 after a designated period after reaching its target temperature, while Level 2 steps down after a longer designated period. This helps reduce risks associated with prolonged skin contact with sustained heat.Automatic heat reduction is an additional safety feature and is not a substitute for proper use. Do not use the hand warmer while sleeping or if you have reduced sensitivity to heat.
  2. Earlier Detection and Response to Abnormal Heating
Upgrade: Dual Thermal ProtectionOCOOPA has added independent NTC temperature monitoring and MOSFET hardware protection in applicable models, providing two layers of protection through temperature monitoring and heating-circuit control. If the product temperature exceeds its designed range, the system is designed to activate the appropriate protective mechanism, helping reduce the risk of continued abnormal heating.
  3. Protection Against Abnormal Power Conditions
    Upgrade: Enhanced Power Protection Circuitry

As higher-powered charging devices become more common, incompatible chargers or cables, abnormal power input, or internal component faults can place additional stress on a product’s power-management system and cause abnormal heating.

OCOOPA has added a fuse and upgraded power-management chip in applicable models to provide an additional layer of protection when the charging input or an internal component operates abnormally, while further improving stability during charging and discharging.

Always use a charger and charging cable that meet the requirements specified in the product manual.

For certain models involved in this recall, OCOOPA will introduce updated versions after completing the applicable safety design upgrades. Future sales of the relevant products will use the upgraded design and will not include the older batches covered by this recall. Specific features may vary by model. Please refer to the relevant product page and user manual for details.
